Special Christmases

We would always be at Jacqueline and David's for either Christmas day or Boxing day.  David would be busy in the kitchen trying to cook a feast for 7(sometimes 9), while Jacqueline would be in the lounge playing a board game with the children.  Champagne or mulled wine would start the festivities with bowls of nibbles and laughter.  The lunch would be served and David always amazed me at the amount of delicious food he had managed to cook.  We would crowd round the table where everyone had a table present waiting for them, thoughtfully chosen by Jacqueline.  Three courses, much laughter and hours later we would move back into the lounge and the bags and bags and bags of presents would appear.

Jacqueline absolutely loved giving and watching Jamie, Gemma and Sam's faces as they opened gift after gift.  She thoroughly spoilt them all. She used to give them the 'soft' presents first as she knew they weren't that excited about getting clothes!  She used to say "Thats for mum really."  Books were always saved till near last as they would start reading them straight away.  Then at the end, the main present, the biggest box and the biggest smile on her face as she shared their joy.

Every year she would ask for a photo calendar so she had up to date photos of them near her desk in the study.  She was a very special auntie and very much loved.
